Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving your website's ranking in organic search engine results. And there's a good chance that if you've found your way to SerpFocus, you're on a mission to improve your rankings.
If so, we're here to plumb the depths of SEO strategies and tools with you. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a rank beginner (pun intended), our goal here at SerpFocus is to provide you with relevant resources that can truly guide your SEO journey.
In this post, I'm going to focus on SERP tracking—a critical element of effective SEO. We'll define SERP tracking, take a look at its purpose and function, review our top twelve SERP tracker picks, and finish off by answering a few questions and providing you with some clear criteria to keep in mind when selecting a SERP tracker.
Semrush Position Tracker
Semrush Position Tracker is perfect for individuals, businesses, or agencies looking for an all-in-one SEO solution that also includes a top-notch SERP tracking tool.
Semrush Position Tracker is the SERP tracking tool within SEO giant Semrush's all-in-one platform. That being said, it’s a highly accurate tool with a lot of outstanding features—and the power of Semrush's other high-level functions behind it.
Aside from its standard rank tracking features, Semrush offers unique features like Surround Sound (which lets you analyze what pages rank in the top positions for a specific keyword and check how many mentions or backlinks your site gets) and Keyword Analytics (which helps you leverage the most popular keywords in a specific industry or business space to your advantage).
Keyword.com
Previously known as Serpbook, Keyword.com is a great option for agencies.
Keyword.com offers a full complement of standard rank tracking features that include: Search engine and location support (you can check rankings for Google, Bing, and Yahoo); check frequency (checks are performed automatically once per day); alerts (you’ll receive a notification any time there's a significant change in your rankings); reports (you can export reports as PDF and Excel files); team access (enables you to add new users to your account and give your clients or other team members easy access to keyword ranking information); and white labeling.
Mangools SERPWatcher (and SERPChecker)
If you're on a budget and looking for a budget-friendly, all-in-one SEO platform with decent rank-tracking capabilities, Mangools could be a great choice.
Not to be confused with SERPWatch (which is a stand-alone rank-tracking tool covered earlier in this review), SERPWatcher is the main rank-tracking tool within the more comprehensive Mangools SEO platform.
Mangools separates rank tracking into two tools: SERPWatcher is the main tool, which includes most of the standard SERP tracking features, while SERPChecker is primarily focused on the competitor analysis niche. The two tools are complementary, and you can't use one without the other.
SERPWatcher tracks unlimited domains across a wide range of countries, includes results for desktop and mobile devices, tracks GMB profiles and featured snippets, and provides daily keyword-tracking updates. One stand-out feature is the Dominance Index, which tells you how much of the organic search market you're dominating for any given keyword.
AccuRanker
AccuRanker is not for beginners or small businesses. I'd highly recommend it for brands, store owners, and agencies who need reliable and up-to-date ranking data, competitor monitoring, historical data, and API access across all locations, devices, and major search engines.
Not to be confused with SERPWatch (which is a stand-alone rank-tracking tool covered earlier in this review), SERPWatcher is the main rank-tracking tool within the more comprehensive Mangools SEO platform.

AccuRanker offers a fourteen-day free trial as well as two free SERP tracking tools. That being said, if you really want to get the most out of what the platform has to offer, you'll be shelling out quite a bit of money.
AccuRanker plans start at $116 per month (for 1000 keywords) and max out at $2,492 per month (for 50,000 keywords). There's no doubt there are less expensive options, but when you pay for AccuRanker, you get a lot back in return.
ProRankTracker
ProRankTracker caters to a wide range of users but is probably best suited for small to medium businesses looking to track smaller numbers of keywords at an affordable price point.
ProRankTracker is a mid-level rank tracker with fewer features than some of the competition. The features it does offer, however, are solid and accurate. They include: Automatic ranking updates (plus on-demand requests, depending on your plan); rank tracking across most major search engines; keyword analysis for the top 100 SERP results; access to historical data; access to competitor performance data; video tracking; and decent reporting.
ProRankTracker does offer a free plan, which is good for up to twenty keywords (though it doesn't provide search volume data). Paid plans start at just $13.50 per month and range up to $740 per month. You can select the features you want to access plus the number of keywords you want to track and customize your payment plan accordingly.
Advanced Web Ranking
Advanced Web Ranking is perfect for serious SEO geeks who really want to dig deeply into the foundational metrics that impact rank tracking. It can be a perfect tool for startups or enterprise-level agencies alike but it isn’t for users who want a platform that will do everything for them.
As its name implies, Advanced Web Ranking (AWR) is a SERP tracker that aims to provide more advanced features than the competition. I think it has succeeded in this regard. AWR is a keyword-tracking solution with secondary functions that include white labeling, performance reporting, keyword optimization, competitor analysis, traffic analysis, and more.
AWR accesses more than 3000 search engines across more than 130 countries, provides extensive keyword capacity, operates in multiple languages, and integrates all the Google SERP features (which means that your site analysis will take into account everything from instant answers to featured snippets to top stories, Twitter, site links, and more).
Advanced Web Ranking is also highly customizable—not least when it comes to its next-level white labeling options—and offers advanced data security solutions.
AWR offers a fully featured free 30-day trial with no credit card required. Paid plans begin at $49 per month and range up to $499 per month. You can save 10% if you pay yearly instead of monthly.
SE Ranking
SE Ranking is a good option for small businesses, SEO professionals, and digital agencies who want an affordable all-in-one solution for accurate SERP tracking along with other SEO tools.
Like Semrush Position Tracker, SE Ranking is a SERP tracking tool that exists within a more comprehensive SEO platform. That being said, SE Ranking is a core element of the larger software and has a lot of great features to offer. They include: Tracking across multiple search engines; SERP feature tracking as well as maps results and Google ad positions; side-by-side competitor comparisons; excellent agency analytics and keyword tracking across major brands; and visibility ratings based on your keywords.
One stand-out feature is the "Monitor Change" feature, which allows you to see what's changed on your page and correlate your ranking fluctuations with specific factors.
SE Ranking offers a fourteen-day free trial with no credit card required. Its paid plans range from $39.50 per month up to $191.20 per month, with a 20% discount for annual subscribers. Pricing plans are flexible depending on the features you wish to access and the number of keywords you need to track.
SerpWatch
SerpWatch is an excellent choice for business owners looking for an automatable SERP tracking solution that can provide pertinent data without a major time investment.
SerpWatch is a stand-alone SERP tracking tool that allows you to customize your location, tracking frequency, and search engine, among other things. It provides accurate data, allows you to select your favorite keywords, and updates you with daily email notifications. SerpWatch's white-label options are extensive, and it also provides a wide range of historical ranking data.
Overall, SerpWatch does well at providing users with a functional suite of SERP tracking tools that don't require a lot of customization or tech knowledge to elicit useful information.
SerpWatch pricing ranges from $49 (7500 keyword checks) to $349 (75,000 keyword checks) per month. Substantial savings exist with annual rates (up to five months free at monthly rates).
Nightwatch
I think that Nightwatch is a perfect choice for brands, businesses, freelancers, or agencies who really want to hone in on local rank tracking across the globe. Nightwatch's other features are decent, but it really shines when it comes to local rank tracking.
In addition to the standard complement of tracking features, Nightwatch also offers backlink monitoring, website audits, competitor monitoring, API access, and more.
But where Nightwatch really distinguishes itself is in the realm of local rankings. It claims to track over 50,000 more locations than anyone else. Whether this is actually true or not, the fact is that Nightwatch tracks your keywords in an impressive amount of worldwide locations (currently 107,296), right down to the zip code level. Getting this granular perspective on your critical keywords can be a huge asset if Local SEO is a major focus for your business.
Nightwatch offers a free fourteen-day trial. Its paid plans start at $32 per month for 250 keywords and range up to $559 per month for 10,000 keywords. Users get more features at higher subscription levels, including white label reports, API access, Google Data Studio Connector, unlimited user seats, and more.
Wincher
Wincher is a great option if you're looking for a straightforward keyword tracker with no limits. Though it's a little pricier than Keyword.com, you do get more features and flexibility for the price difference. Wincher is a suitable option for freelancers, small businesses, and agencies alike.
Wincher is a generous rank tracker compared to much of the competition. It offers free and unlimited keyword research, an on-page SEO checker, and the creation of customized automated reports. It also offers a free WordPress plugin.
In terms of specific features, Wincher offers local rank tracking, on-demand data updates, competitor tracking and automated alerts, a decent keyword research tool, and more.
Wincher is based in Scandinavia, and its pricing is only available in Euros. Plans are flexible and begin at roughly $35 per month.
Serpstat
Serpstat represents a solid mid-range option for business owners or agencies looking for a quality, all-in-one SEO solution that will provide accurate ranking data without breaking the bank.
Like Semrush and SE Ranking, Serpstat is another full SEO suite with a robust rank tracker. The Serpstat rank tracker provides an accurate overview of your organic positions and daily SERP updates, evaluates which SERP features drive traffic to your site, runs competitor analyses, and analyzes your market share with keyword position tracking. The Serptracker rank tracker is designed for both desktop and mobile.
Serpstat offers a free seven-day trial. Paid plans start at $69 per month and go up to $299 per month, with substantial savings for annual subscribers. While not as inexpensive as SE Ranking, Serpstat is still quite affordable compared to more established all-in-one platforms such as Semrush and Ahrefs.
Morningscore
SEO beginners or marketers who are looking for a simple SEO solution that doesn't overwhelm them with data.
Aimed at SEO newbies, Morningscore is a simple rank-tracking tool with a couple of interesting features. If a rank tracker is all you need, there are definitely less expensive options out there that can do more. But if you find some of the other SEO platforms overwhelming, Morningscore is an interesting solution for presenting SEO (and rank tracking) in a digestible format.
Morningscore is the only rank tracker I'm aware of that attaches an actual monetary value to your rankings. It bases its estimations on how much you'd need to spend to generate the same rankings using paid advertising. While not always totally reliable, it's an exciting approach to help you connect SEO with revenue.
Morningscore's paid plans start at $65 and range up to $685. It offers services for everyone, from freelancers to agencies.
You should invest in SERP tracking software because it tells you how well your SEO strategies are working. Simple as that.
Without data, it's pretty difficult to adjust and optimize your methodology. As they say, knowledge is power. And a good SERP tracker provides you with a lot of knowledge—about your own rankings, your competitors' rankings, and the whole picture at large.
I reviewed one of them (ProRankTracker) in this post. That being said, you usually get what you pay for in terms of quality and features. If you’re serious about improving your SEO strategies, I'd recommend investing in a high-quality rank tracker that won't leave you frustrated.
Most of the better quality SERP trackers include rank tracking for Google SERP features like Google My Business (GMB). If this is a priority for you, be sure to check for it before you purchase a rank tracker.
