(HOW I GOT MY FIRST CLIENT FOR $1300 A MONTH)
Hey guys, I was talking on the phone with Michael tonight and he asked me about how I got started in SEO. After about 40 minutes of talking he asked me to share my experience with the group; as it was a unique one. I want to say that I am truly grateful to everyone in the community of SEO who have shared their experiences. I look forward to getting to know more people along this wonderful journey.
I first found out about SEO back around the beginning of June 2016. I was looking into getting started in internet marketing since I have always hated working for others. I had a friend who was starting her own business in MLM and sent me some information about the company she started with.
After talking to my friend and the guy who started the MLM company I was convinced I had to do this. For $250 and some of my time I could be an MLM master!!!
Well needless to say I started trying to find out more about MLM and the particular company. I found out it was as shady as an oak tree in the middle of June. So what would I do now? I started watching Youtube videos on how to make money online and found Daryl Rosser and his videos as well as Alex Becker. I watched there videos from the moment I woke up until the moment I went to bed. I read everything on Lion Zeal and started following others and reading their material and watching how to videos. The number one thing I understood was that I needed a client more than anything.
Now after getting a firm two week crash course of self taught SEO from the interwebs lol I needed money still. I was contacted by a company who sells group health and life insurance and they wanted to hire me for a 100% commission career, cold selling and door to door B2B sales. I was kind of interested so I decided to interview with them. I went to the first interview and when they asked me to tell them what I was currently doing I froze. I was unemployed and going to school. (What would you say?) I told them, "I am currently self employed doing SEO. "What is SEO? ""
We talked for an hour about what SEO was and how to rank and they eventually said "wow that is amazing" they almost forgot to talk to me more about the interview. They offered me the job and said we should talk more later. One week later I get a call and they wanted to see a presentation. So I got on the web and started searching how to do that. I slapped together a presentation and spent two hours screen-sharing. They weren't ready to buy and I kind of expected it.
Another week goes by now almost four weeks in, still no money coming in. I went to an interview with a major logistics company called TQL who wanted to hire me as a broker. They asked me what am I doing right now, well what do I say? I said the exact same thing again. Started talking about SEO. After two hours of us talking about how Google works they told me they couldn't hire me since it would be doing me a disservice. (Instead they want me to come back and talk to their IT dept. They even gave me there cards and wanted to link up on LinkedIn) I was a little upset, I needed money after all. But hey hopefully I can sign them as well.
Well guys to cut a super long story short (well not as long) I got a call two days ago from the insurance guys I was talking to in the first interview. They wanted me to come out to talk about moving forward with a campaign. I figured out how to set up a contract and where to set up a NDA. With the help of Michael Milas on how to process credit card payments. I had them sign a six month contract yesterday at $1300 a month after a pleasant two hour meeting. Best part was that they said they wished they talked to me sooner.
First client is still kind of a shock, hopefully I can book the other one now!! I am happy to know such amazing people such as Michael and Daryl and appreciate all the amazing group support. Thanks a lot for reading 🙂
You can do anything if you set your mind to it!!
